Reviews Overview

Patrons rave about the breathtaking views of the boating lake right from their tables, enhancing the dining experience. The menu's versatility is another highlight, accommodating different preferences with vegetarian and vegan options. Many enjoy starting their meal with the crispy belly pork or hot smoked mackerel, both of which are favorably mentioned in reviews. Guests often leave satisfied after indulging in rich desserts like the sticky toffee pudding or lemon cheesecake, which pair perfectly with the cafe's excellent coffee selection. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere add to the overall enjoyment, making it a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike.

Most Disliked

Some visitors mention slow service during peak hours, particularly on busy Sundays. While the staff is friendly, it’s clear that heightened demand can stretch resources thin. A few guests found the seating a bit cramped, especially during the lunch rush, which may affect the overall comfort of the dining experience. Additionally, some diners wish for more variety in the mains section, finding the offerings limited compared to the extensive range of starters and desserts. However, these drawbacks do not overshadow the cafe's strengths, especially given its prime location and enjoyable vibe.

We decided to visit Lakeside Cafe for our Sunday lunch. The cafe/restaurant was a pleasant walk from the Trencreek Holiday park we were staying at. The location is lovely and our table was overlooking the boating lake. We decided to have the two course lunch offer having Belly pork and Goats cheese starters followed by roast dinners which included separate dish of vegetables and an extra gravy boat. The food was delicious, hot and generous portion sizes. We found the staff excellent and very efficient from booking and throughout the whole visit. Highly recommended ❤️

Undoubtedly the best cafe I have had in Newquay Cornwall. Service was bit slow though lol. Good outdoor seating, delicious food. We tried vegan breakfast., item were fresh and tasted absolutely amazing. It's next to lake, which make it more special. Prices are also reasonable. Plenty of free car parking spaces available. If you are visiting Newquay, I definitely recommend this place.

Booked for a dinner with family. Relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere. Menu range was way beyond what I'd expected. I'd recommend the pork belly (starter or main) and the steak and blue cheese pie. Best meal of our holiday! Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is really tranquil. Stopped by again for coffee this morning.

I visited a few weeks ago for brunch and was completely bowled over by the bacon and egg sandwich. It was incredible. Huge and packed with really good quality produce. The fry up was also very well received. Good options for teas and very friendly staff. View is nice too!

Excellent place for food and a drink the coffee and cake menu was delicious. We had brownie and a coffee and walnut cake with some kids ice cream and cheesy chips. Wonderful friendly staff and a great chilled atmosphere to relax and enjoy a meal overlooking the lake. Would definitely recommend. Many thanks 👍

Had lunch here with my wife. Great location and the food was excellent (and good portions) and delivered quickly. Particularly impressed with how the staff dealt with a nearby rude customer expecting miracles with dietary requirements even though the menu was varied to cater for most needs (this person had something we’ve never heard of before). Great friendly service all round.
